Do supplement companies really want to help our seniors?

In my latest column for the Herald Mail, I told you about the Congressional investigation of several supplement manufacturers who seem to be targeting our nations seniors with false, or unproven claims on their products.

The report from that investigation didn’t name names of those companies. But being the kind of guy that I am, I did some digging, and found some companies who make these wild claims about their products, and now I present them to you. These companies may or may not be the ones under federal investigation, but they claim to cure everything from diabetes all the way up to cancer. Shameful. Check out the links, read the claims then leave your comments below.

Here we go…

Ginseng Supplement

Ginko Biloba Supplement

Hagerstown Fitness Expert Reveals Secret To Success

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

I had the distinct pleasure of conducting a strength training session with the North Hagerstown High School wrestling team today, and I gotta say, color me impressed. From beginning to end, the boys were focused, motivated, and willing to crank it like I wanted them to. I divided them into teamsof three, with at least one wrestler with a year or more of strength training on the team as my co-coach to help the more inexperienced wrestlers. We then did a simple strength circuit which consisted of deadlift, weighted pushups, and “commando” pullups.

Everyone kept busy, and worked hard, so I rewarded the best lifter with one of my “Train Hard(er)” t-shirts with one of the greatest quotes fro Coach Vince Lombard on the backi:

“Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”

I wanted these kids to understand what will take them from good to great in the world of wrestling, and also in life. Working hard makes you good, working harder makes you a champion. Being willing to “pay the price” is paramount to set the stage for success. What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your goals? Are you willing to do one more rep? Do one more drill? Watch one more instructional video? Give up weekend partying during the season?

This has to be understood if you want to be great. Commit to pitching a tent about a mile outside your comfort zone and get to WORK. That’s the key to success on the mat and off.

Just my opinion though…

It’s My Birthday, and You Get the Gift…

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Yes the rumor is true, the “Fitness Answer Man” is officially 35 today. You know what? I feel just as good as I did when I was 25, just with less hair. A lot of people start freaking out when they get to this point and questioning all the decisions they made in their lives, but I’m actually more excited about the decisions I have yet to make.

In the past year, I had a healthy, handsome baby boy, made an extremely successful return to professional wrestling, developed the best fitness boot camp in Hagerstown which was named “one of the best in America” by fitness celebrity Rocco Castellano, and became a powerlifting champion in only my second contest.

Big year…

Not as big as what is to come. I’ve always had a giving spirit, which in part has lead me to become a fitness expert. Ig et to help people change their lives on a daily basis. There is no better feeling than watching someone come to me with no confidence, weak, and tired transform into a completely different person in a matter of months. But I feel like I can do more.
